Area Restaurants

We have many fine restaurants here in Americus and also a few that are a short but worth while drive from here.  Below we have listed some with a short description.  Reservations are not always necessary however we will be happy to make them for you and would defiantly recommend them on holiday or special event weekends.  On Sundays our selection of restaurants is more limited, however those that are open are noted below.  Bon appetit!

The Forsyth Bar & Grill

Located on Forsyth Street in historic downtown Americus.  This is a very casual restaurant with booths and open table seating.  This is the local's haunt so it can be very busy and noisy.  The menu is varied with a little of everything including sandwiches, pasta, steaks, seafood, appetizers, vegetarian and low fat.  The Forsyth is not fully licensed but does serve beer and wine.  The price range for entrees is $5-$15.  If you want to go here be sure to have Chuck book you a table, it will save you a wait at the door.  Open Tuesday - Saturday for dinner 5pm until 10pm.  Closed on Sundays and Mondays and not open for lunch.

The Trellis

Casual fine dining has returned to Americus in the form of a restaurant called The Trellis located in a beautiful Tuscany Style building on Georgia Highway 27E, just minutes from the center of town.  With appetizers such as Pepper Seared Ahi Tuna and entrees like Guinness Marinated Pork Tenderloin you can be sure of good food and with entrees between $13 and $20 you can expect reasonable prices as well.  A great place for that special celebration or casual enough just for a good meal.  The Trellis restaurant is open from 5pm until 10pm Tuesday to Saturday and the bar is open 5pm to 11pm Tuesday to Thursday and 5pm to midnight Fridays and Saturdays.  Closed on Sunday and Monday and not open for lunch.

The Windsor Amelia's restaurant is located in the Windsor Hotel on Lamar Street.  This historic hotel was built in 1892 and is a 'must visit' just to enjoy the architecture, fine woodwork and lovely atrium in the front lobby. The restaurant now just serves dinner and the menu includes steak, shrimp, chicken and salmon.  Entrees range from $17-$35.  Fully licensed, the hotel also has a bar called Floyds Pub that has a great balcony over looking Lamar Street.  Both the bar and restaurant are located on the second floor.  Open Monday-Saturday for dinner 6.00pm to 9.30pm.  Also serves a buffet lunch on Sundays.  Reservations are not normally required but we will be happy to make them for you..  Service and food are good and the setting is beautiful and well  worth a visit.
